William Bennett, better known as Skip, was born in Duxbury and raised among a family of commercial fishermen. He graduated from Merrimack College in 1988 with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. With all of his childhood experience and knowledge of fishing, he started his first shellfish farm in 1990.
The farm and business of Island Creek Oysters began in 1995. Today Island Creek Oysters has grown to include several farms, a hatchery, a wholesale operation, distribution to 700 chefs nationwide, a robust e-commerce platform, as well as own and operate 6 restaurants/oyster bars.
Skip currently sits on the Board of both the non-profit Island Creek Oysters Foundation and the Caribbean Harvest Foundation, a Haitian non-profit organization.
